Before you come

Thessaloniki from Serbia

The nearest large Greek city, with two border crossings in the middle of it.

The drive, in real numbers

Belgrade to Ladadika is 628 km and about seven hours of driving with no stops and no border wait, via the A1/E75, Preševo-Tabanovce and Bogorodica-Evzonoi. Add roughly half an hour per three hours on the road for a real family journey.

Evzonoi is an external Schengen border

This is the difference between your route and the one from Bulgaria. The EU Entry/Exit System has been fully operational since April 2026 and registers non-EU travellers biometrically at land crossings. In August 2026 Evzonoi was handling more than 35,000 crossings a day, one day reached 42,000 with waits over three hours, and the authorities suspended biometric registration to clear the queue. That is not the norm, but it happens at the August peak.

Green Card, tolls, paperwork

Greece does not need one. Serbia is in the Multilateral Agreement, so the Greek side does not check insurance on Serbian plates at all. North Macedonia does need one, because it sits outside that agreement, and that is the part people forget in the middle of the drive. Tolls there come to 380 denars from Tabanovce to Gevgelija, about 6 euro, and the booths take cards. Greece has one station on this road. Evzonoi, 2.95 euro for a car.

Where the car goes

The lanes in Ladadika are partly pedestrianised and there is no street parking. Put the partner garage into the GPS instead of our address, 250 m from our entrance, open around the clock, charged separately. After that you will not need the car again. Aristotelous, the markets, the seafront and Ano Poli are all reachable on foot.
