What it is like to stay inside Ladadika

Ladadika is Thessaloniki's old commercial quarter, wedged between the port and Tsimiski. Low listed buildings, pedestrian lanes, tavernas, bars. The neighbourhood keeps two rhythms. On weekday mornings it is quiet, with coffee, deliveries and a few people passing through. On Friday and Saturday nights the tables come out onto the flagstones, and music and conversation carry until late. Stay inside the quarter and you get all of it at close range. That is the neighbourhood, not small print. Nobody can promise you silence in Ladadika on a Saturday, and anyone who does is selling you something.

Who it suits, and who it does not

You will enjoy staying inside Ladadika if you want to move on foot and meet the city the moment you open the door. It does not suit everyone. Better to know that at the booking stage than on the flagstones with your bags. One rule covers most of it. If you sleep lightly and want the quarter anyway, come midweek, when the difference from a Saturday is obvious.

  • Right for anyone walking everywhere. Food, the port, the centre, all close.
  • Right for anyone who likes the quarter's night life and comes home late.
  • Wrong for anyone who needs guaranteed quiet every night.
  • Wrong for anyone counting on a space outside the door at no charge.

What to watch for: buildings, entrances, parking

In the quarter's old commercial buildings the entrances rarely announce themselves. A door between two shopfronts, no hotel sign. Ask your accommodation for photo directions before you travel and you save ten minutes of hunting with luggage on the flagstones. The lifts, where they exist, are small. Parking takes less explaining. The lanes are pedestrianised or restricted, so a free street space is not something to plan around. Budget for a garage from the start, and ask whether the property works with one nearby.

Where Loena sits in it

Loena Luxury Suites runs five identical 30 m² suites on the fourth floor of an old commercial building at 13 Ernestou Emprar, with the tavernas 2 minutes away on foot and Tsimiski 3. Each suite has a queen bed and an extra single for up to three guests, a full kitchen, a Nespresso machine, fast Wi-Fi, air conditioning and shared laundry access, with regular housekeeping. Self check-in from 15:00, checkout by 11:00. To say it plainly, at weekends the quarter is audible. We keep improving the soundproofing, and if you sleep lightly, ask us for the quietest suite we have free. On Booking.com guests rate us 9.4 across 490 reviews, and they often write that the space is exactly like the photographs.

Before you book

Our building entrance does not stand out from a distance and the lift is small, so we send photo directions before arrival. Drivers use a garage 250 metres away, open around the clock and charged separately. Rates, availability and cancellation terms all move with the season and the tariff, and the booking engine shows every one of them before you confirm. Anything else, we answer on WhatsApp. And if Ladadika turns out not to be your quarter, Thessaloniki has other good ones. We would rather you stayed where the trip works.

Frequently asked questions

Is Ladadika a good place to stay in Thessaloniki?

For anyone who wants the city on foot, yes. The tavernas are downstairs, the port and Aristotelous are a few minutes away, and you walk home at night. Anyone who needs guaranteed quiet should choose a calmer neighbourhood, because at weekends the quarter stays up late and you hear it.

Is Ladadika noisy at night?

Midweek, not especially. The quarter settles fairly early. On Friday and Saturday the tables and the music run late, and that carries up to the higher floors. Light sleepers should prefer weeknights, or ask the property for its quietest available unit. That is what we do for anyone who asks.

Is there parking in Ladadika?

On the street, effectively none, because the lanes are pedestrianised or restricted. Budget for a garage from the start. Loena works with a garage 250 metres from the entrance, open around the clock, charged separately, so message us on WhatsApp before you arrive and we will send directions.

How will I find the entrance?

In the quarter's old commercial buildings the entrances rarely stand out. Often it is one door between two shopfronts. Ask for photo directions before you travel. We send them to every guest ahead of arrival, with everything needed for self check-in from 15:00.
